First, prepare a budget of what your meal will cost. Remember, you will be preparing all parts of the meal. You should first consider what you have on hand at home. Then, you should consider which foods are in season. You do not have to make ALL parts of the meal. You may purchase a FRENCH STYLE dessert. You may not use cheesecake or another American food. Fruit is a perfectly acceptable dessert.
1. Your meal will include the following:
q an appetizer – this can be very simple- Fresh vegetables, a soup, etc.
q a main dish- this needs to be French, from France
q a salad- this is just a green salad with a vinaigrette. Do NOT use Ranch dressing. This is not French!
q cheese- No cheddar here! Try a cheese like brie or camembert
q a dessert- this should be French style. No cheesecake!
2. During the meal, instruct your family as to proper table etiquette in France
3. Take pictures of the process (at least two each part of the project: the shopping trip, the cooking, serving the meal, and cleaning the kitchen) and create captions (you may use English) of your pictures.
4. Print out all recipes you have used for your project
5. Have each family write a comment of your meal and describe the favorite part of the meal.
6. Include your own reflection of the meal. Include what your favorite and least favorite parts of the project were and what you would do differently next time.
7. Bind all of the above mentioned items in a scrapbook and create a table of contents.
Your finished project should contain:
q A decorated cover including your name and class period. If you are using your portfolio binder, please create a separate sheet for the cover.
q A table of contents
q The menu of your meal (In French)
q The shopping list for your meal in French including the expressions of quantity: Ex. Une livre d’haricots verts. You will use the following URL http://www.recettes.qc.ca/liste_epicerie/

q Two photos of each part of the process with captions (at least 8 photos total)
Printouts of all recipes used in the project . These MUST come from French Food and Cook, the bookmarks at Ikeepbookmarks or approved by Madame in ADVANCE. http://www.ffcook.com
